Extraordinary Women's Conference

I had the privilege of attending the Extraordinary Women's Conference last weekend at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. There were over 2800 women there and we really felt the God there with us. The speakers were fabulous! Friday night we heard Chonda Pierce, a christian comedian and she had us all rolling with laughter!

After Chonda spoke, we heard a concert from Mark Schultz, a wonderful christian artist. You may have heard some of his music if you listen to christian radio (I do). He sings "Letters from War", "Walking Her Home", You are a child of Mine...and many other great hits. He was absolutely amazing and had the WHOLE audience crying because of his beautiful song lyrics.

On Saturday, we heard Lisa Whelchel speak. You probably remember her from The Facts Of Life sitcom where she played Blair. She is a fabulous speaker and has written many books on Parenting and Homeschooling.

After Lisa, we were in for a treat with a mini concert from Mandesa! You know her from the 5th season of American Idol. She has hit the Christian charts with hit after hit and was amazing!

After lunch we heard from Michelle McKinney Hammond who gave a dramatic performance. She told the story of Hannah from the bible and was one of my favorite speakers at the conference. She has a beautiful voice and used song and words to give a strong message to remind me that it's not about Me, It's about God!!

Last but not least, we got to hear Karen Kingsbury speak. She is my favorite christian author and spoke about living today as if it were your last. How to make the most of your time with your family, children, and friends. It was powerful. At the end of her speech, she read a poem that she had written that is published in "Let me hold you longer" and had us all crying like babies.

It was an awesome experience to be there. I learned a lot and spent time with God. Thanks to my wonderful husband for taking care of things at home so I could go. I love you!!
